Gamma-Ray Bursts from Relativistic Detonations of Electro-Dilaton Stars

چکیده
We speculate that the universe is filled with stars composed of electromagnetic and dilaton fields which are the sources of the powerful gamma-ray bursts impinging upon us from all directions of the universe. We calculate solitonlike solutions of these fields and show that their energy can be converted into a relativistic plasma in an explosive way. As in classical detonation theory the conversion proceeds by a relativistic self-similar solution for a spherical detonation wave which extracts the energy from the scalar field via a plasma in the wave front in the atmosphere of the star.

Flashing Dark Matter— Gamma-Ray Bursts from Relativistic Detonations of Electro-Dilaton Stars
We speculate that the universe is filled with stars composed of electromagnetic and dilaton fields. We calculate soliton-like solutions of these fields and show that their energy can be converted into a relativistic plasma in an explosive way whioch produces strong gamma-ray bursts observed in the universe. The conversion proceeds as in classical detonation theory by a relativistic self-similar...
متن کاملThe Breakout of Relativistic Jets from Massive Wolf-rayet Stars
New twoand three-dimensional calculations are presented of relativistic jet propagation and break out in massive Wolf-Rayet stars. Such jets are thought responsible for gamma-ray bursts. As it erupts, the highly relativistic jet core (3 to 5 degrees) is surrounded by a cocoon of less energetic, but still moderately relativistic ejecta (Γ ∼ 15) that expands and becomes visible at larger polar an...
متن کاملGamma-Ray Bursts from quark stars
Long gamma-ray bursts (GRBs) are believed to be related to the explosion of powerful supernovae type Ic, which have been stripped of their hydrogen and helium envelopes, and are rapidly rotating. There appear to be two types of these explosions: those which are approximately spherical (GRB980425/1998bw), and which are associated with weak bursts, and the classical GRBs which generate ultra-rela...

New twoand three-dimensional calculations are presented of relativistic jet propagation and break out in massive Wolf-Rayet stars. Such jets are thought responsible for gamma-ray bursts. As it erupts, the highly relativistic jet core (3 to 5 degrees; Γ & 100) is surrounded by a cocoon of less energetic, but still moderately relativistic ejecta (Γ ∼ 15) that expands and becomes visible at larger...
متن کاملA Model of Short Gamma-Ray Bursts: Heated Neutron Stars in Close Binary Systems
In this paper we present a model for the short (< 1 second) population of gamma-ray bursts. In this model heated neutron stars in a close binary system near its last stable orbit emit a large amount of neutrinos (∼ 10 ergs). A fraction of these neutrinos will annihilate to form an ee pair plasma wind which will, in turn, expand and recombine to photons which make the gamma-ray burst. We study n...
